Summer Journal Page by Cheiron Brandon

Hi there! It’s Cheiron here to share another project with Dina Wakley Media products. I don’t know about you, but I love to go on vacation in the summer. After a few days I do seem to miss my art supplies. This year I plan to make a kit with a few basic things that I can travel with to be able to create in my art journal everyday.

Instructions

These new bottles of Dina Wakely Media paints are the perfect size to take along with my journal on a road trip.

It’s so easy to pack a tote with my journal and fill up my designer accessory bags with paints, a few favorite stamp sets and a few stencils. You could even bring a bunch of pre-stamped images and tags to use as well.

Step 1: To begin the page, apply some gesso with a palette knife and let it dry. I did not cover the entire page, but instead left areas blank here and there.

Step 2: Add some paints onto each side of the journal spread, scraping them down with the palette knife.

Step 3: Begin to create layers by removing paint with a baby wipe through the Pinwheel stencil.

Step 4: Continue to use various stencils to add and subtract paint and build even more layers.

Step 5: Add a layer of Night paint across the center of the page. Subtract some paint with the stencil to reveal the layers underneath.

Step 6: Add some words to the page using white paint through the Affirmation stencil.

Step 7: Stamp one of the Silhouetted Women onto a piece of tissue wrap using Jet Black Archival Ink and cut it out.

Step 8: Paint and stencil a Distress Heavystock tag, then adhere the Silhouetted Woman image to the tag. Cut a phrase from the Scribbly Wings set and adhere it to the tag.

Step 9: Add tag into journal using Printed Media Tape.

Step 10: To finish the page, add some stars by stenciling Gilt paint through the Variegated Stars stencil, layering some of the stars onto the tag.
