Collage Glue Stick Resist Wall Hanging

Kaz shares an amazing resist technique she discovered using our Collage Glue Stick.

Instructions

1. To start you will need the Collage Glue Stick, a large #10 tag and Stampers Anonymous Mixed Media stamp set. Take the glue stick and carefully apply the glue to the selected stamps. Stamp onto a tag randomly. (Make sure you clean your stamp set with a wet wipe to remove the glue.) Check out this video to see Kaz’s Collage Glue Stick Resist technique in action.

2. Take the Heat it Tool and dry the tag. (Be sure to wait for the tag to cool before touching.)

3. When dry, take an Ink Blending Tool with Foam and Walnut Stain Distress Ink and gently work the ink over the stamped images in a circular motion. (Don’t press too hard. Even though the glue feels dry, when it mixes with the ink, it will form a waxy residue and too much pressure might make it smudge.)

4. When you have covered the whole tag with Distress Ink, you will see the images from where you stamped. (These will look a little oily.)

5. Using a wet wipe, gently swipe over the oily images (be careful not to rub). The swiping will remove the glue and leave your resist. Repeat over the whole tag.

6. Some of the color may fade from your tag because of the wet wipe. Just simply take your Blending Tool and add more color to the edges. The resist background is now complete.

7. Take the text from the Apothecary stamp set and stamp with Jet Black Archival Ink onto your resist background.

8. Now repeat the whole resist process on a smaller piece of Manila cardstock using the mini text from Attic Treasures stamp set and Peeled Paint and Crushed Olive Distress Ink. Stamp the dragonfly in Jet Black Archival and color the wings with Faded Jeans Distress Marker. Spritz the wings with water so it reacts with the Distress Inks. Dry with Heat it Tool. To add some dimension, sew stitches around the edge of the card, then apply Walnut Stain to the edges with a blending tool. Adhere to the center of the tag with Wonder Tape.

9. Repeat the resist process to another strip of manila card for the base of the tag, stamp the text from the Classics #1 set then use a distress tool to the edges of the card, sew the edges in the stitch and adhere the strip to the base of the tag using Wonder Tape.

10. To create the wings, stamp the dragon fly onto a heat resistant acetate/Clearly For Art, using Jet Black Archival Ink, dry with the Heat it Tool. Carefully cut out the wings and body, (you may need to manipulate the acetate wings into place) Adhere into place with Glossy Accents.

11. Stamp the word Odanta from the dragonfly stamp, in a contrasting color, cut to size and add an Idea-ology label pull.

12. Take a piece of wire and wind some of it around the Retractable Craft Pick to create a spiral, arrange into place and attach to the tag (wrap around the tag, securing in place at the back with some wonder tape.) Repeat.

13. Take a sheet of manila card stock and cut to chosen size. Adhere an old dictionary page to the card using Wonder Tape and distress the edges with the Paper Distresser. Sew the edges. Take the blending tool to the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Adhere the tag to the page using Wonder Tape.

14. To finish take a Crop-o-dile and punch out two holes at the top, add eyelets and wire to complete the hanging.
